I would say that it's really difficult to take photos at the zoo for two reasons. One, there is always a shitload of people getting in your way, and you have to hurry to get out of their way, and they're bumping into you (or into the fence you're resting your arms on to hold the camera steady, thank goodness for Image Stablizer), so you only get like 2 or 3 shots, and there's only like a 50/50 chance of them turning out. At least in my case, lol. The other reason is that most of the animals are behind glass. So you get reflections and distortions... and the windows are dirty. I could have gotten some great shots of the orangutans but NO... the glass had to be so reflective that mostly what I got was the glass reflecting peoples' legs... and the orangs were seriously right there. So irritating.
However, I also must say that I love shooting animals. Much more so than people because they aren't going to purposely avoid you because you have a camera, and they can give you some gorgeous shots. Like the shot of the Gerenuk that is my current Featured. For some reason I just love it, maybe it's the light, or her pose, or simply the fact that she looks so lithesome and graceful; but whatever it is, I just love it. I do think I will go back to the zoo to see if maybe I can get some better shots off (when I have more time to visit the exhibits multiple times).

If I show you the roses will you follow?
But that was kind of a long time ago, lol.
But now that I have a better camera I can post stuff that might actually be worth a damn, lol.
